2017 News and Updates

In this page we will update what students here at Oto Elementary School are doing.

October 20, 2017

At Saitama City we offer chances for teachers from kindergarten and day care to come to elementary school and experience a day as an elementary school teacher. This year we welcomed two teachers into our 1st grade class. The teachers may learn what the children do at elementary school and reflect it on their daily work.

This is how the "Wood of Books"festival is taking place. The photo on the left is the list of books recommended to the childrent to read. If they are done with the reading they get to put a sticker beside the title. At the photo on the right, the sixth graders are having the library teacher read a book for them. They are never too old for storytelling, they are happy.

At today's GS Time, we wrote cards to our friends in Australia which introduced Japanese seasons and cultures. We wrote about our lives, toys, and vehicles in English. On the day of Mini GS, the teachers take turns and make announcements in English from the Teachers' Room.

GS Morning Assembly, taking lunch at lunch room, and Suginoko Halloween masks

At today's GS time, we watched a video from children from Australia, who we are making correspondence with. It is said that they too have "reading week" like us, and they enjoy this festival by wearing costumes of a character they read in a book. Children here were watching the parade and they were very interested in it.
We started taking lunch at our lunch room (we usually have our lunch at our own homerooms). We eat our lunch with our school principal. We get to eat jello as a dessert whnever we eat at the lunch room.
The pictures in the bottom are halloween masks made at Suginoko class. Well done!
